Trying to get some fuel out of my Chevelle for the Vettefest show (1/8th tank or less). I currently have a 1/4 tank maybe a line more on the guage, but runnibg it to use the fuel up is taking forever. Siphon wont work ..ideas??..if not the car will be running for a couple of hours tomorrow..any least it sounds good and smells great!!! Thanks

I put a piece of Metal tube on my Siphon( to keep the tube low and in the gas). This kept it on the bottom. I used a low gas can (round type). It may work better if you jack up the back of the car. Just keep the can lower than the gas cap, so gravity can do its thing. It did take some time to get the 4 to 5 gallons out of the car.

ALbert,

My recommendation to you is to FLOG it mercilessly. Make sure you do lots of this...

...this tends to use up a bit more gas AND you get to have fun!

Why not take some pictures of your antics!

Sam I would love to flog it , but my driveway is doubling as a stream right now as we are having a little spring thaw..I need easy way to remove about 4 gallons of gas..never thought I would have to do it any other way except by driving it...hard!!.

Siphoning gas? Hey, that's right up my alley!

Being from the midwest, we're experts in this exercise!!!

I have a piece of clear 1/2" fuel line about 5 feet long that's used exclusively for 'transferring fuel'! Using the old 'tried and true method' of human vacuuming, you can watch the fuel climbing through the clear line. When it reaches a point just a few inches from the 'termination end', quickly place your finger over the end and place it in the gas can. 3 - 4 gallons should only take a couple of minutes to transfer.

I came up with the idea of using clear line after NUMEROUS incidents of coughing and gagging on Hi-Test!

(For some reason I feel I'm gonna regret this. Howie?)

I tell what I use and it works pretty good
87-91 fords I know the vans had them . A electric fuel
pump that was mounted on the frame rail likes like a fuel filter with wires
I take one of them attach a small fuel line on the suction end of the pump and
Attach the outlet hose in a gas can put suction hose in the gas fill hole power up the pump with 12 volt’s
I can get 98 % of the gas out that way have been doing
this for years
But for god shake do not use your mouth to Siphon Have learned the hard way
This is NOT a good thing to do

For me it was the best way

go to Home depot and get a kerosean pump and take the siphon line and put it on the end to make it longer, it will empty your tank in no time.

Super Siphon

Much better than the tried and true method I learned when I was a kid.
