Default While we're on the subject of illegle

LET'S SAY I BREAK INTO YOUR HOUSE

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting
the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal
immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own
borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to
stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind
these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in
your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and
washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all
the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for
when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me
to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits
to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is
hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to
call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your
house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm
just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for
well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a
fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it
without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker.
Oh yes, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!

The answer is simple Andy. It's never couched in those terms.

I read something last week that I didn't know about the 9/11
hijackers. Evidently, a few of them used the illegal alien ( Mexican )
underground to attain legal documents, which allowed them to
stay in the USA and plan their dasterdly attack. Again, why
don't people learn of this stuff and more importantly, why
is it being kept from the public. Who's interest does it
serve to keep them stream of illegals coming in?

Can we please keep this site about cars ? I come here as I'm sure many others do to take a break from the rest of the world. Many of us have different opinions on politics and it would be nice for this place to be about cars and not politics. This one post is just one of many and reminded that I have been wanting to address this. I have heard from members that were offended by political posts other than this one and I have to agree. This is not a rule here but just something I personally would prefer. Maybe others can chime in on what they do or don't want to hear about on this site and we can go from there.

Charley,

On so many of the forums I visit, the lounge exists for
topics not directly associated to the main purpose of that
particular forum. I thought our lounge was set up for off
topic discussions as well. I'm sorry if some members here
got annoyed about these topics. I think many members here
enjoy the lounge as can be witnessed by the number of posts.

Honestly, I can't remember anyone posting anything negitive
or asking us to move on or stop the discussion. I don't want
to start any trouble here as I feel that I've sort of found
a home on this forum.

Personally, I find it comforting to see so many here having
similar opinions about issues that effect our country. I
have enjoyed these sometimes spirited discussions and would
hate to see them disappear. I just figured that if someone
didn't care to get involved in the topic, just don't read it.
It's kinda like TV - no.

If we are offending members, I'll stop posting in the lounge.

Steve
