Default 68 Z Repro Cowl Plenum

Has anyone checked out the reproduction cowl plenum air cleaners on Ebay? I am considering one of these for my 68 Z to avoid paying for the real thing. It's an original cowl plenum car so I want it to look and function correctly. Thanks for the help -- Tony

I have never seen one of them, but I think they are made out of fiberglass?

Give Jerry MacNeish a call -- he "da man" for these things. He won't be shy about sharing his opinion.

Tony, A friend of mine bought one for his driver and was very pleased with it for the money. The mold for it was made from an original '68 breather and it fits and looks good.

I have had a few and have one in the body shop now being painted. They are made from carbon fiber and from an original 68, the carb plate is metal and once you put it tougher and fix any seams and paint it you have to touch it to tell its not metal. Ill send you a pick when this one is done and installed.

Not sure, but I did email this eBay seller with a question and he responded stating his name is Bill. I asked if he knew of anyone who had an original 67 plenum as I have a friend that needs one for his 67 Z and the reply from this seller stated the following;

[ QUOTE ]
I know of someone who is reproducing the 67 cowl plenum and that it is also being sold as NOS since the quality of reproduction is 99% perfect. He further added that the price was 2500.00 if I was interested and said he could get me the manufactures phone number if I required it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I replied last night asking for the # and thanking him in advance and his next email stated this:

I can broker a deal. My fee is 15%

I passed on the deal as I don't like being strung out by someone I don't know. I say this because my friend is still looking for an original or repro 67 plenum assembly. He has a beautiful 68 plenum that I am sure he'd part with if I could source a 67 piece fir him.

Do any of you know where a 67 plenum can be found or who repro's this part? I understand the 68 base has a recessed portion in the lower bowl and the 67 does not. Any help is appreciated.

Zedder??? Anyone? Please chime in.

Nelson Rudisill has personally started reproducing the Cowl Plenum Air Cleaner as of 2002 for the Chevelle, but I believe he has included the Camaro as of recent.
He was featured in the Nov/Dec. 2003 of A.C.E.S. Chevelle World magazine showcasing his work.He really went the extra mile in capturing the original design, but uses Carbon Fiber material on the duct.I can send you pix of this Magazine issue if you like.
Contact Nelson Rudisill at:
NKR Products
P.O. Box 495
Rutherford College,North Carolina 28671.
Phone # 828-874-2335 6-9:30PM EST.
I believe his prices are around $2000.00 or less.
