Got a card from a guy at VF who is putting on a US30 Reunion. Wants me to have the '68 Dick Harrell funny car there, as Dick and this car raced there on numerous occasions. As far as I know, just a reunion, no racing.

Not too far from Morocco, IN, and US41 International Dragway, which I found out is just a notch above a hole in the wall...but boy oh boy was the Yellow Submarine flyin' that day...

Tom, did they set a date for the reunion?
The dragstrip reopening will be an uphill battle with regards to zoning and enviromental issues. Things have changed ALOT around here in the last 20 years since they last raced. Local legend has it that Joe Satmary and the original We Haul still haunt the place as this was his home track. I recall seeing quite a bit of U.S. 30 memorabilia at the Don Garlits' museum in Ocala a few years ago. |

Tom, did they set a date for the reunion? [/ QUOTE ] I do not know the date, but he did take my contact information and said he would get back with me. When I hear something I will post it here.

What's this 1970 CHAVELLE crap!
![]() While the local residents have a point about the noise & safety issues,I don't think it's fair to judge the behavior of a few patrons some 35 years ago,on how it would be today. It was after all the 1960's-70's and we were all carefree reckless teenagers back then with long hair. The Majority of those interested in seeing this become a reality today, are grown up responsible adults with families & careers now. You never realize what you had until you've truly lost it,so I'd bet everyone would treat the Strip & surrounding areas with much more dignity & respect then ever before...especially on SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! I know I would. ![]() |
