For sale is our 1966 Corvette Coupe. It is an early production L-72 with 450hp. It is Mosport Green with a standard black interior. Options include an M-21 transmission, 4:11 posi rear, teak wood wheel, power windows, am/fm radio, telescopic steering column, off-road exhaust, and five, original dated Kelsey Hayes knock off wheels.
The L72 with 450 horse power was only optioned through late Auguast 1965 to early November 1965. Because of insurance issues Chevrolet changed the horse rating to 425 between the later weeks of November into the early weeks of December. This car, being a September 1965 build date, fits the trend of a 450hp L-72. This is a very rare Corvette. Early production cars also have numerous 1965 parts. This Corvette has 1965 dated exhaust manifolds. The Corvette has been meticulously restored by an NCRS master level judge in NY. The engine was rebuilt by the original NY speed shop, SK Speed and the rear end and transmission were reviewed for mechanical correctness as well. The restoration of this Corvette was completed with all factory markings, stickers and inspection markings in place. For example the original “DF” stickers are found on the fan shroud. Original “IP” stickers are found on the rear of the value cover along with the drip marking on the center drag link, stickers and tickets on the suspension and chalk markings on the front cross member. No expense was spared. The Corvette has been showed through the NCRS and is a two time NCRS Top Flight car of 98.3%. The Corvette is also a Performance Verification Winner in which all mechanical aspects of the car are in perfect, factory like, working condition. Fewer than 500 Corvettes have reached this level. There is no factory paperwork with this car. We have a dry title run leading us to PA and past owner history leading us to a Corvette collector in Long Island, NY. The engine, transmission, rear end and fiberglass are all original. All numbers, castings, stampings and trim tags are authenticated by the NCRS and the restoration shop. I have a binder of 200 photos from the restoration. This is an opportunity to purchase one of the rarest Corvettes produced in 1966. The NCRS speculates that this is one of less than 400 Corvettes produced with the L-72 427ci, 450 hp motor. How many of those 400 still retain the original motor? Transmission? Rear End? Coupled with a 4:11 rear and an M-21 tranny, this makes for a great strip/street car. Please feel free to call or email me about this Corvette. Trades for 1969 COPO Camaro are welcomed. Dan - 914-715-4081. $142,500. Thanks sYc! ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() You know what my thoughts are on this car Dan. If I had the bucks, and was in the market for a mid-year, I would be all over this car. Good luck with the sale and your quest for a COPO.

Saw one of these beasts at the AJ Chandler Park all Chevy (sponsored by Brown & Brown Chevrolet of Mesa) car show today. Never knew of the short run of these '66 450 HP beauties. It was a red coupe and absolutely fine and fine! Best of luck.
BTW, what is the factory compression ratio of these cars? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
