any Old Helmet guys here????

I started liking old helmets this last summer and have been gathering some, what is the take on old helmets that got the 60's rattle can treatment is there a way to safely get back to the original gell coat/paint??? I found two of the old half style this weekend and would like to pull them back to original finish if I can...we all seem to collect odd things on the side anyone into helmets???

I have 2 Bell helmets from 1941. My wifes uncle bought a 41 Indian 4 cylinder new. He bought 2 Bells, 2 kidney belts,and 2 sets of leather leggins. I have the bike and the stuff he bought with it. Original bike except some paint, seat cover, saddlebags and the muffler. The helmets are in the original boxs.

Bud...Memory failed me. The helmets are 1966 model Awards.
Frank...I am killing time waiting for Passport with the new Nova, so I took a couple of pictures. The wife is putting them on the computer. When I get them, I will send some to you.

Bud...try Easy Off oven cleaner on a smal inconspicuous place...let it sit....it works on model cars
