Default Cowl Tag Question

What do you guys think about this 67 Camaro Cowl Tag. I think it is a fake but I am no expert. What do you look for?

Knappy,
In my experience of looking for some character differences between real ones and "repro" ones, I'd say this one is legit.

The first L78 Camaros weren't built until the later part of March. That ought to tell you what you need to know about the tag. Let me guess, no docs for the car, right? Probably no known history back to day 1 either.

I purchased this car a few months back, it is in rough shape but was sitting in a shop for 15 years or so. The trim tag decodes to a 67 Camaro L78 Convertible but I am not convinced. Most of the original parts are long gone. The build date is very early. I thought L78 Camaros were not introduced until later. I will post some more pictures tonight. I want someone to convince me it is not fake.

Knappy,
1st of all, I'll make it perfectly clear that I don't know Squat about Camaros. I don't know what equipment entered production when at all. I didn't even know the tag had something on it to indicate L-78.
What I am familiar with though, is what the characters on repro tags look like. Unless the guys doing these have gotten the correct fonts for a few incorrect characters in the last year or so, I still say it looks legit to me. You say the car was sitting since about '90 or so. Why would someone put a bogus tag on a car, then leave it sit for 15 years? Did people even know those codes 15 years ago? Not trying to make an argument - just offering something to think about.
Maybe Fisher just stamped it wrong. Maybe it's a pilot L-78???

The first L78's were 4P cars...I owned one. And yes, the tag looks like a fake even if the dates and codes were correct. Put a pic of your '67 Z tag on your screen with this one beside it and look for differences
