skieraj
Have you always held your leftist leanings or have you been indoctrinated by your liberal professor(s)? Studies have proven then 85% of college profs are liberal and lean to the left.

The percentage of poor people in this country is the same today as in the '60's when LBJ started the "Great Society" social programs. Trillions of dollars later the poor are still with us. Most people who are poor are that way because of poor life choices: drugs, alchol, babies out of wedlock, hanging around with the wrong crowd(getting arrested), divorced(married a scumbag or scumbagee when told not to), don't save money, dropping out of school, no responsibilty etc etc etc etc. Why can't leftist liberals just come to the realization that some people are just hopeless causes and no matter what you do for them the result will still be the same??

I noticed that one of the most popular shirts among Gen Y's has a slogan "Only old people vote". I also saw a comment by a young lady recently that said she did not vote because none of the issues affect her. This girl does not have a clue. The medicare R/X bill and other cradle to the grave programs are not going to affect her??? I really feel sorry for your generation. When the baby boomers hit retirement age your generation is going to be taxed so heavily to pay for SS & medicare bills you will never be able to afford a '69 Camaro. Plus your SS retirement age will probably be raised to 70+ and your benefit will be means tested if you get it at all.

It is also a irony that most leftist/marxist/socialist groups are in bed with the environmental groups and share many of the same views. People control through mass transit and loss of private vehicles ownership is just one belief held by both groups. Why you would associate your views with them is beyond me. Boy you never will get your '69 Camaro.

Final comment: Why have all communist governments failed?? Name one that been a success. And don't give me that crap about it was not true Marxism. Even most Socialist countries have been a failure and most are going to free enterprise and private ownership i.e. Swden, Norway, India, Ireland,Scotland, Switzerland etc. Look at India. Up to 1992 it was one of the most Socialist countries in the world and was a buacratic nightmare. This is one reason the country had a Brain drain. One drug maker said a drug that would take 2-3 years to get aproval in the US would take 12-15 years in India. They have since embraced private ownership/capitalism and they have been gaining a busting economy.

I would like to see how you feel 10 years from know when 60-70% of your paycheck goes to pay social programs.
Dave

Right on the money Dave! There was a saying when I was in college due to all of the liberal, fully tenured, all-knowing profs: 'Those who can, do, those who can't, teach'. That might be a good reason why somebody would leave the Carribean to teach - especially Sociology; a baseless required course if I've ever seen one!

Socialism invites Communism, and it doesn't attack - it starts from within due to liberals who feel that everybody is owed the same in society. BS. Pull your pants up, keep your head up, and work your @ss off - that's how you get ahead. Entitlements don't work.

(Tom Williams was apparently having a similar discussion when I called one night )

I agree guys.

Most of the "big guys" I know, started out as "little guys", working their tails off to acquire some of the finer things in life. And most remember those days and will do what ever they can to help the next "little guy", as long as that little guy is willing to help himself. I saw this happen in our hobby a couple of weeks ago.

Just one more thing,

I agree, MOST little guys worked their asses of to get where they are, unlike G.W. Bush.

Yeah, that's right! Take that!

Ole Georgie there got into college because of his father's connections. Some good that did him; he flunked out.

Likewise Bush got off of drug charges (I can't remember, but I think it was Cocaine) because his dad had money.

What is this world coming to?

Everyone fill out their profiles; at least put your name in there.
That's enough, I'm done talking.

Don't jump to politicians now! One of my buddies is 87 years old and always tells me: 'show me a politician, and I'll show you a bum'. He's right

Don't tell us how bad Georgie is without give the same details about Willie! If your prof had messed around with an intern, would he still be employed? They're all bums! They only think they run the economy, the real person in the drivers seat is Alan Greenspan.

Don't put yourself in the position of attacking people who are more fortunate than yourself. It won't help you in the long run. You need to think from the point of view of how can you acquire what you want in life. Set realistic goals and find a way to achieve it. I've always wanted a 69 ZL1 Camaro from the first day I learned about them. I knew I would never really achieve that so I found something that I liked and was within reach. Then if you work hard, make some good investment decisions and have a little bit of good luck, you might be able to acquire what you thought you couldn't. The hardest part is learning where not to waste your money and time. No matter what, at the end of the day you need to sit back and relax to get a fresh prospective on things. OK, break time is up, get to work!

Please nobody take this the wrong way. I don't always agree with this author about some of the things he has done. I only wish I had been the one that thought of it first.

BUT: I do beleive that there is some great wisdom in these (11) thoughts. They are more to the point of the real world. You only get what you work for. Set on your ass and you will not have much. Young guys have a hard time understanding what we the older generation have seen as we grew up.

In Bill Gates' new book Business @ The Speed of Thought, he lays out eleven rules that students do not learn in high school or college, but should.

He argues that our feel-good, politically correct teachings have created a generation of kids with no concept of reality who are set up for failure in the real world.

RULE 1 - Life is not fair; get used to it.

RULE 2 - The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

RULE 3 - You will NOT make 40 thousand dollars a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone, until you earn both.

RULE 4 - If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. He doesn't have tenure.

RULE 5 - Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping, they called it opportunity.

RULE 6 - If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

RULE 7 - Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents' generation, try "delousing" the clothes in your own room.

RULE 8 - Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have abolished failing grades; they will let you try as many times as you want to get the right answer.
(This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.)

RULE 9 - Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.

RULE 10 - Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to their jobs.

RULE 11 - Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
__________________________________________________ _
Believe in your self and if you have a dream then don't let someone talk you out of it. They are usually jealous of you and that they didn't come up with the idea or are too lazy to work for what they want out of life.

My Mother was a great infuence on me. She told me once that from what she had seen going through the depression that "Real estate ownership will never let you down. You can live in it cheaper than renting and if times get too bad then you can alway rent it out. Just don't ever be in debt on it any longer than necessary. Once it is paid for you will never be totally broke, no mater what the economy does."

Now those were words of wisdom from someone that was 50 yrs old at the time and had a high school education.

I would like to point out that you will learn something new, everyday for the rest of your life. You will learn much from places you would not expect and little from places that you expect much from.

Be like the sponge and asorb all you can and if it doesn't seem right to you then use your judgement. When I was first in business, I foolishly listened to my Banker tell me that I could not afford the commerical property that I wanted to buy instead of renting. He told me that I would be a fool to buy it for $80,000 when I was only paying $400 per month rent. Two years later I had to pay $103,000 for the same property. I had a offer on it, 6 years later for $400,000.

Now you expect your banker to know more about things like that than you do. I should have followed my heart and my dreams and I would have saved the extra years of rent I had to pay and would have owned the property sooner.

Like Bill Gates said "Be nice to the Nerds you may be working for one someday"

I would like to add my favorite little ditty that is posted on the wall of my office.

"There are three kinds of people in the world!

Those that MAKE things happen..!

Those that WATCH things happen..!

And those who WONDER what happened..????

After I read it, I ask myself??

WHICH one do you want to be???

I am convinced that most of the guys on here are of the first part of it that make things happen. Learn to run with that kind of person all your life and it will pay off someday.

Climbing down off my soapbox now. Hope I didn't offendend anyone? Was not mny intent.
