Both. It was pretty much up to the cars owner preferences and pocketbook. I would venture to say that the vast majority of the Motion modded 69's were of the big block variety. There were however a few small block engine packages/upgrades available from Motion also.

Weren't the small block cars known as Z30's or something like that? It seems that all you ever see in the magazines are the big-block cars; I don't think I've ever seen a small block Motion Camaro featured anywhwere.

I do recall an article (HP Cars probably) on the Motion 'Green Meanie' (?). There was a discussion about this one awhile ago in this forum about it. It was a green/white striped, cross-ram engined 69 w/ an L-88 hood and I believe it was built from a Z. And yes, I think the engine in that one was a "Z30".

I tried to do a search in the forum and come up w/ the posted pics of the article but came up short. Anyone remember the thread?

Here's a photo of Joel Rosen and Dave Bean with a Motion '69 Z/28. Note the Baldwin Chevrolet dealer sticker on the spoiler.

A Z28 B/M, with the RS option to boot. What a package!

Speaking of which, here's a LINK to a 69 Z on Motion's rollers...note the 'early' shorter spoiler. Here's the original page, click on "Fotos" and "Fotos 1". LINK to page

WOW!!!
That picture has so many interesting details in it.
Look at the 1969 Sports Dept. Light hanging in the window over Joels Left shoulder.
Thanks for posting that.
