Default CE engine block data?

This afternoon I was helping my Pop clean out along his garage. One item uncovered was an old small block with a CE stamping.

Anyway, the here is what the block is

CE8-701 96

Casting # 3933180
Date Code- A128

My Pop said he remembered it as being a small journal 4" bore motor. It had a 327 crank in it, and is probably a 327 motor originally. The real reason I figured I would get some data on it is to possibly help out someone with an early Z28.

I don't know if this block would be applicable to a Z28, but if it could be used as an acceptable replacement block, then it certainly would be worth saving. Any input is appreciated!

67 Z28's used block casting #(3892657) and 68 Z28's used #(3914678). Hope this helps.

Strange piece, whatever it is. That casting # is not listed in Colvin's book. Would not be considered correct for any 1st gen Z/28.

Well, it sounds like it may not be very helpful to anyone. Not much info for this casting number. If anyone could shed any other info I'd really appreciate it.

Just to cover the bases, what would the block casting number be for the elusive 1968 L79 Nova?

3914678 for a 68 L79
3892657 (early) or 3903352 (late) for 67 L79
