getting ready to possibly order leaf springs from Ron at McHenry, are they the best out there.??? Heard good things such as originality in looks and set up. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

From what I have heard, they are the best ones available. If you get them, let me know how the car sits with them.

This info is a year old but I had a few concerns then. The five leaf BB springs were banded incorrectly and the second ply did not have the GM embossed on them. The car sat a bit to high in my opinion. But the look of the spring was very good. I cannot tell you if improvments have been made, but Frank Payne who was working on the project was looking into the banding issue. Overall not bad, but not 100% either...BKH

Recently I began the search for a set of rear springs for my '69 Yenko Nova. After many calls, emails and posts, I was given Ron's number. Even though I have not had a chance to install them, they are certaintly a lot better/closer then any thing else I could find.
And, I must say, Ron is very easy to deal with. In fact, too easy. Not only did I get the springs, but left with a whole load of stuff for some other projects.

Brian,
We had one batch that had the clamps on the second leaf in the rear in the wrong spot. You were the one that caught that for me and it was corrected. That was only on the Z28 leafs. As far as height, this is a crap shoot for any one and all we can do is make the spring fit the factory print for an average car. If we made the springs for big block air convertibles they would all sit too high except those cars. We always tell people that there is a chance the car might not sit at the exact desired ride height. Sometimes they do need some minor re arcing but this is easy for any local spring shop. We strived to make these as correct as possible, but with as few of these as are being made the cost for tooling up for the number stamping is prohibitive. If these are not correct enough you can always look through 10 or 15 sets of originals to find enough leafs that aren't broken or partially rusted through to make a full set. Of course even when you finish doing this, the car still may sit too low from using worn original leafs. Thanks, Frank |

Frank;
I think that is my problem. I have a really nice of original leaf springs on my Yenko, but I think it actually sits a little too low - and it may be a little uneven. I'm considering a new set vs. getting these re-arched, but I'm afraid the re-arched ones might make it look like a stagecoach! What to do? Oh yea, do they come with thos cute little blue dots?

Marlin; If we do not like the ride height, I guess we could do what Ray Morrison told me did to his Harrell Nova. He re-arched his rear springs "with a sledghammer" [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/
