On a 2nd week Sept. 69 L-78 were the paint body and trim stamps Orange or Green???
Whoever owned our L-78 before us shot the whole engine compartment in Flat Black, I can see were they were under the paint, but don't know the color. |

Not sure what determined the color, but I found mine by taking some 600 and wet sanding the black paint on the firewall (gently) until they appeared. On my Sept. 68 build, they were orange. I also know of an Oct. 69 that are orange also.

I own a 9b of 69 built car with orange PTB stampings. I believe there is some speculation that the shift may determine the color used.

Hi Joel,
We have one Sept. '69 Norwood car in the family that had orange color stampings (found behind the A/C evaporator box). There was no evidence of stamps by the brake booster. Also had "ORN" (hugger orange car) written in yellow/green marker dead center on the fire wall. I also have alot of documentation on the suspension paint markings that were found on this car if you need any help. For years I doubted the existance of things like this, until I found them on this relatively unmolested Texas car. Let me know. Keith '69 RS/SS 502

I was thinking that the power brake cars never recieved the "p" "b" "t" stamps near or behind the power brake booster due to reaching that area before the booster was installed on the assembly line. I am wondering at what point those stamps were applied at the factory??
