Default Unearthed 1970 Twister Special Mustang 428 SCJ Hibernating for 41 years

A race team special ordered 96 cars and then folded and then repurposed and sold as Twister Specials. The are somewhat a unicorn. This example is unrestored and powered by the ultimate 428 engine option SCJ.

Does anyone know any more of the story of the race series the original order-er was going to do? That sounds like a very interesting tale.

I remember my neighbor worked on one of these about 20 years ago. He knew all about them. They were apparently ordered same color and as pace cars by American Racing .
( I don’t think it is the same wheel company). I remember asking at the time. They went bankrupt and Ford turned them into twitters to sell at dealers in the midwest along tornado Alley. Not sure 100% on the story but my neighbor is very knowledgable on Mustangs.
