Assembly line ducted hood seal... USED
Steve:
I have what I believe (99.9% CERTAIN) is an original assembly line installed Ducted Hood seal off of a 1969 Z/28. I know it will fit others, but am reasonably certain it came off of a Z. Years ago when I was piecing together an assembly line correct air cleaner set up, I purchased a used Demco spacer and top ring. This seal was on the top ring. There was still some factory adhesive on it, but it came off the ring easily. You can still see some of the factory applied adhesive. There are no tears and virtually no flaws in it.
I does not have the tape on the joint. I do not believe it ever did. I know the NOS ones do, but don't know if assembly line seals came with the tape. The joint is still holding very well. The ring is soft and pliable. I put it back on for a while, but it just looked out of place with the rest of the air cleaner being restored. Because is was already broken in, FORTUNATELY, I did not glue it on. So, I installed an NOS seal. I kept this one tucked away because frankly, the NOS seal looked like chit when I first installed it. So, I thought I might have to put this one back on. Over the years the NOS one ended up conforming well, thanks to M22Mike's tutorial on installation, so that it now it looks perfect.
I believe this has value to someone with a Legends type car, especially if his or her original seal has split, cracked, been removed, etc. I honestly don't know what this is worth. I am pricing it at $300. Heartbeat Jimmy gets almost $500 for an NOS. Again, this would be appropriate for a survivor that does not have a nice seal.
If you think I am out of line on pricing, make me an offer.
I can take more pics.
