This is a late 1969 396 4 bolt block casting number 3955272 dated G-21-9 and stamped T0911JH 19W340750. This came out of a late built Nova but is also a good timeframe for a late built Camaro since they built them into the second week of November of 1969. This block is standard bore and very clean with new freeze plugs installed and the block was magged. Can ship if you cannot pick up $2500. Any questions I can be reached at 330-770-2517 and pictures can be provided with a email address.

Dennis, is the vin number correct. Seems low for a G-21-9 engine.

I agree but the stamp looks real to me. I can send it to someone to post on the website if you would like.

"T0911JH 19W340750", quote dlv4540
I have 19W349517 JH. It is a late Oct.68. Dennis, I believe 09 is the month & 11 is the day. That would be assembled on 911 September 11th Are you sure this is not a Sept 68 built cast July 21 6<span style="font-weight: bold">8</span> G-21-<span style="font-weight: bold">68</span> Based on VIN? And, in fact an early engine? 272 block, hmm, an early 69 would it not be a 440 block? So, maybe it is late. Did they build 69's that late into the normal (Sept.) 70 model start date?

The date code is on the back of the block and is G-21-9 and they did not move it back their until around February of 1969. Prior to that is was on the passenger side underneath the middle freeze plug. I believe the vin number is not correct for the time period and maybe it was stamped incorrectly from the factory. It is perfect for a late built Camaro or Nova application.

It Would make perfect sense considering July 21st 1969 is a Monday. Someone must've had a long weekend.

I checked the VIN's and build dates on the 2 69 L78 Novas we had...our cars were built in the late winter and spring of 69 and the VIN numbers reflect that. The VIN sequence for the 1969 Willow Run cars started at 300001.
There were over 250,000 Novas built in 1969...that VIN represents an early built car....not sure how to balance that against the casting date location. I always default to the casting date when things are confusing. Colvin's book says this block was used thru June of 1969...but this casting date is July..?? I don't believe they built 1969 Novas into September of 1969...the 1970 cars were being produced by that time...but, like all things GM...you never know It might be helpful to see the deck stamp...but in the end, it won't really change anything...the casting number/date are what they are. So, if you need a 4 bolt 272 block...here it is. wilma http://novaresource.org/production.htm

I agree I have never seen a 3955272 built this late but like all things anything is possible. I due believe the vin is not stamped correctly but figured a guy with a late built Camaro would really like this one.
