That car is a little fishy. It looks decontented, but it is a Park Lane, which was a luxurious car like a New Yorker.
Someone took liberties with it - that's for sure. Also, there was no Marauder in 1968 - "Super Marauder" is Mercury's name for the 428/340. It's quite a rare car with this motor but it's no different than a big-block Caprice with a 396. |

I just received an email from the seller, who's a member here.
He takes issue with the word "fishy," which I can understand. What he did was remove some of the trim of the Park Lane and make a very neat business-like Mercury that normally is not like that in Park Lane form. He said that he referred to the car as a Super Marauder because that's what a lot of people have done in the past. But as a model, there was no Marauder in 1968, which was the bone that I was picking. So I guess there's not really anything fishy - just an issue of semantics. Seller was very pleasant about it and I offered to clarify, so here it is. |
