Check with the North Carolina DMV. They were most helpful when I was researching the history of my 68Z. I received the complete history of my car when it 'lived' in NC. The only stipulation is that you cannot contact any of the former owners due to the privacy act. Good luck with your quest.

Try your insurance company. They may have some old records that would list the VIN. Good Luck.

It had r/s on the car but from what I was told it was a r/s ss because of the hood 12 bolt rear end and it had disk brakes on the front end the car was a factory 396 car!!!

So what you need to do is figure out what you're looking for. If it's a real 396 car, it must be an SS. The RS was a trim option, but I for one know a 396 car as an SS, so if someone posted an ad looking for an RS, I would think, "I own an SS, so I know that car is not mine." |
