Pontiac 8.2" 10 bolt. (Also works in Olds and Buick rears depending on the years). I'll need to know the height of the ring gear flange while it is sitting on the table to know what series it is.

The height from the floor to the under-edge of the large flange (where all the bolts are) is 5". The height from the floor to the flange just above the bearing is 1 3/16".

What year is this carrier for and is it a 3 or 4 series or other? 69 Firebird or GTO? 71 Camaro 10-bolt posi?

Thanks for your help. The fact that there is a row of bolts on the outer edge AND the inner portion confused me.

I need the height from the floor to the ring gear flange (where the ring gear bolts to). Should be 1-7/8", 2", or 1-11/16". It is not Chevrolet. This is Pontiac, Olds, or early Buick only. These were not clutch units, they had friction cones, which is why the inner ring of bolts is present since they were two piece cases.

The 2" height would be considered a 4 series posi unit. It takes 3.36, 3.55, 3.90, 4.10, and 4.33 factory gear ratio sets.
