I don't know of any local chrome platers in the Charlotte area to get a quote from, so has anyone had experience getting wheels rechromed?

I'm looking for a ballpark figure on rechroming 2 Keystone Klassic wheels 15x6. Also would like any recommendations on good places to get them rechromed. I can buy new ones from Jegs for $166 each. I would rather rechrome the originals if the price is close or cheaper. Thanks for your help. Brian

I think you'd be more satisfied & money ahead buying brand new.

The problem is they're used rims. The few chrome platers left today do not like to deal with used wheels and all the quality & warranty issues that go with em. I found some used, pretty clean Cragers I wanted rechromed last year, and not one local plater in the surrounding midwest states would touch them, even after they saw them or I sent them pics. They said they'd be around $500 each + ship,(todays westcoast price),to replate even if they considered them, which they didn't,and there was a zero gaurantee on them afterwards. Two told me to send them to the westcoast,as there are a few platers who do relunctantly chrome plate used wheels there today, but they will not offer a warranty/gaurantee on it sticking long term,or a good uniform overall cosmetic appearance.Plus the wait time was enormous.. I ended up buying brand new from Jeggs and gave the used ones to a local guy who powdercoated them the color of his street rod. |

Stockton Wheel in California if they are still in business. Close or cheaper than new for a rechrome..............NOT CLOSE! I would take Ricks advice or wait till some overpriced NOS ones come up for sale.
