I need to replace the carpeting in my 746 interior code red bucket seat 1969 Nova because some varmit created a home in the back foot well area. The car was in storage for an extended period so he had plenty of time to make it home. I have a few questions:
1. Does anybody have an original red interior Nova? Can you describe the shade of red of the carpet please. I bought a carpet kit from Classic Industries and sure enough the color is way off from the carpet in the car. They have a very bright almost lipstick color red and the carpet I pulled out is at least 3 shades darker. 2. How do you get the varmit smell out of the interior? I have everything out down to the bare metal floors and I can still smell the urine. 3. What is the best way to attach the tar sheets to the floor? 4. Does anybody have a recomendation for a good carpet kit supplier? |

What happened with this car. I remember you posting a few pics when you got it. Ever find a build sheet, etc. I imagine the carpet would be the same color as Chevelle and Camaro so that may help you get more comparable colors.

Jason I am just playing with the car a little bit at a time and one thing leads to another. I did not find a build sheet in the interior but I am planning on having Jerry MacNeish inspect both cars very soon. I am fairly certain it is a real big block car and it has the right indicators of being an L78. I would like to figure out how long the 427 fender emblems have been on the car and maybe get a clue on why they were installed on the car.

427 Emblems? Did you post more pictures of the car somewhere? I think I saw pictures that were posted right after you bought the car but before you got it home?

Jason I will e-mail some pictures to you. Sam would you say the red carpet is a brighter red than the seats?

Can anybody with a 1969 camaro with red interior let me know if the carpeting is a much brighter red than the seats and the rest of the interior? The carpeting I pulled out of my Nova is not original and is about the same shade of red as the seat vinyl.

Try sprinkling baking soda all over the carpet and leaving a box of baking soda open in the car closed up.
I can't remember what the name is but there are products for removing Cat Urine from wood floors and it should work on this too ...seen it on TV so there is something out there, sorry I am not much help. Try calling a Vet and ask about this.. also here is a link that may help.. Good luck. http://www.catsofaustralia.com/urinestainremoval.htm |

Mark - Here are some recent professional photos taken of my '69 Chevelle 787 interior. What the photographer took is a faithful rendition of what it looks like in person. All interior is original. I would expect some fade over the years but car was stored inside for all but the 1st year. Car has 32K miles. ![]()

Mark, I have used a product named BAC A ZAP with great results. You need to know someone with a pesticide license to buy this product. A friend of mine details cars for a profession and uses this product also to get the human smell out of a vehicle in which someone has died and not discovered for a few days. Also try using charcoal, it will draw the smell out also..... I believe you wrap the charcoal in wet newspaper. This product eliminates organic odors and is also biodegradeable, salmonella free, non-caustic, low toxicity and contains active live bacteria.
