My brother spoke to a fellow who apparently owns a 71 Vega that was built and raced by Don Hardy. It is now a running and racing 8.5 second car...beem raced off and on all these years...The car could probably be purchase. I know the Grumpy Vega sold a few years ago, but I'm sure Don Hardy Vega is not even close to the value of a Grumpy car..have there been any similar cars that have sold the last few years...

Would be interesting to see a Don Hardy Vega next to an SRD Vega. I would say a nice car to have if you can buy it right. I would think it depends on how original the car still is to the 71-72 time frame. Maybe an old NHRA Pro Stock car or an AHRA Pro SS car. Would be real neat to have.

This part of the Hot-Rod article is interesting!.
"...He also built all of the Vega conversions for Joel Rosen's Motion Performance on Long Island, then pole-vaulted over the sick-and-wrong line when he built a big-block version at Rosen's behest..." ![]() ~ Pete

I don't think the guy realizes the historical value of the car. To him it is just a toy that he races now and then. The owner of the car actually swears Don Hardy is dead....obviously nottt.. |

Cool article. I had the pleasure of driving one of Don’s street Vegas when it was fairly new. My brother in law was the second owner I think. Well-engineered little car. I also owned a 82 Camaro Pro Stock car that was built by Don. Was a nice car. Wish I still had it!
