Ebay pulling listings for

I saw a mention in this thread about a no-reserve aution not finishing. I don't know if the seller ended the aution or if ebay did, but it struck a nerve.

This past Sunday I had listed some items on eaby. One was a Sun Super Tach. I get a notice the following day form ebay " Listing Removed: Search and Browse Manipulation...
The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Search and Browse Manipulation policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

Ford."

I told how the tach was a known working tach which was tested before removed from a Ford. I guess I could have not included that in the body of my description, but seems a little over the top. I had a few other items pulled for simialr reasons. I might be able to understand if it was in the search title, but in the body of the auction?

I think this hurts sellers and buyers. From a buyers's perspective I am finding it much more difficult to find the really obscure things these days. From the sellers perspective, I am reluctant to put up some obscure item in fear it will have such a limited description that I will nto get the number of viewers to trule get the market value.

Has this been discussed recently? Anyone else have a problem with this? Is there going to be a rival site to ebay?

Yes, they were pulling my auctions for the same reasons. My account manager had to go to the board and plead my case. We came to an agreement that we can both live with and I have not had a problem with pulled auctions since.

On a side note, it is mostly gauge auctions. Apparantly, someone outside Ebay is playing guage police and reporting auctions that have keywords in the title. This is definitely not new but is still BS.

Anytime I list an auction in the gauges section and have any brand name other than the gauge in the title it gets flagged.... and its ONLY in gauges.

Speak of the devil. My hood tach just got pulled. I forgot to put "For" in the title. From what my account manager told me it is someone outside of Ebay reporting these auctions. Either another vendor or some guy with too much time on his hands.

I wish there was a negative feedback police, I bought something from a guy with 99% positive who has 60+ negatives in a month and over 740 negatives in the last 12 months...ebay sucks but it`s the only game in town...

PayPal and eBay scams

Once more it has happened to me, and I am sure I'm not the only seller to have been scammed. Do a Google search sometime for eBay scams and PayPal scams. Since the changes in eBay policies last year, I find I am being scammed about once every 20 auctions, and buyers know there is nothing sellers can do. eBay and PayPal keep changing their policies but it always seems to favor the buyers at the detriment of sellers. Like many sellers who offer a refund, I normally charge a restocking fee to deter people from returning items if they find something else they like for less money. There is also a 7 day time limit to get a refund. I think every seller deducts for their shipping costs from any refunds they might pay. Many sellers do not allow returns. ENTER THE NEW POLICY OF PAYPAL, THE SAFE AND SECURE WAY FOR SELLERS TO ACCEPT MONEY!!! If a buyer decides he wants a refund he just needs to file with PayPal and claim the item was not as described. You have 45 days to decide if you want to keep the item, NOT 7 Days even if your auction states 7 days. PayPal will rule in the buyers favor and might even ask that him or her return the item but not always. If PayPal requests a tracking number just put the item back in the box, or put a brick, or whatever you want, in the box and ship it. If the seller gets a brick back there is nothing he can do and PayPal sure wont help. If you sell a used item and state no returns the buyer still has 45 days to file a claim with PayPal for a full refund. The buyer will get his refund as soon as the seller pays PayPal. If the seller does not refund PayPal his eBay account and his PayPal account will be closed. The buyer gets the gold mine and the seller gets the shaft. SO NO MORE PAYPAL FOR ME. IF YOU WANT TO USE PAYPAL TO SCAM ME PLEASE BID ELSEWHERE!!! ABSOLUTELY NO MORE PAYPAL. IM OUT $595 PLUS MY SHIPPING COSTS PLUS MY EBAY SELLERS FEES, WHICH ARE NOT CHEAP ON A $595 ITEM. THIS MOST RECENT SCAM IS THE LAST TIME I WILL BE SCAMMED BY A BUYER WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF PAYPAL!!!

When a seller gets scammed he is out of his shipping costs and eBay sellers fees if you wait 33 days to return the item. eBay has reduced the time allowed to refund sellers fees yet again. I guess they were having to refund too many sellers and were looking for ways to increase profits. So now the seller is out of the shipping costs and maybe his eBay fees, plus all of the time he spent listing the item, answering questions, as well as packing and shipping time. If you hire somebody to do the shipping you are out his wages. The packing tape and gas to drive to UPS are not free either. But dont plan on PayPal deducting anything for your time or costs because they will only give the buyer a FULL refund. But thats the least of your worries if the buyer gets a $300 refund and you get a brick in the returned box. Once upon a time the seller could at least leave negative feedback for scammers and warn others but eBay changed that policy. Sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback anymore and if you add any negative comment in a positive feedback comment area for a buyer who scammed you then eBay will remove the comment and leave the positve feedback rating. With this policy scammers will ALWAYS have 100% feedback and eBay doesnt want anybody to know. I have tried to tell about these problems by including information in my auction listing but eBay has started to shut down my auctions for leaving any comments that might offend anybody. eBay said that warning people about scams violates eBay policies. They said the only place I could leave my "political" comments, as eBay called them, was in my ABOUT ME PAGE. I bet it wont take them long to delete this or suspend me for telling the truth. In my most recent auction I asked that deadbeats not bother to bid. eBay would not allow me to use the word deadbeat because it might offend them LOL!!! I changed the word and listed the auction BUT I included some of my "political opinion" as eBay called it, in the auction listing under my PayPal policy section. Within 12 hours eBay closed it and said the following:

"The listing was removed because it violated the eBay No Item policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

Auctions are designed to sell an item and to promote an eBay transaction, not an opinion, political stance or other extraneous type of information.

The About Me page may be a better place for some of these items, or for additional information about a seller or their business.

We want eBay to be a safe community where all our members feel safe to visit and trade without the fear of another member posting negative comments about their eBay account in the auction description. These types of issues should be left in the feedback forum."

BUT I WANT TO TELL YOU ABOUT A WEBSITE WHERE BAD PEOPLE ARE LISTED. TAKE A LOOK AT THE WEBSITE THAT IS LINKED BELOW, UNLESS EBAY HAS DELETED MY LINK.

I listed a walnut steering wheel for a 67 Camaro a couple months back and they pulled that one as well. Same reason, "browse manipulation" because I put YENKO and Z/28 in the sub listing.

I wrote them back and told them they need to educate their people if they are going to making decisions about the automotive listings.

thats the million dollar question...I was hopeing by now a new site would have popped up by now. I have a bunch of misc stuff to sell and with listing and paypal fee's its not worth messing with especailly when they yank your add and dont credit you back anymore if they dont like your wording, you eat it and like it!!, guess a guy has to start dragging everything back to the swap meets, I sure liked buying stuff off ebay for projects even paying a little to much most of the time but hey it was on the way in the brown truck, it seams others are doing the same I just dont see the large quanities of parts like I used to, just tons of re pop dealers pimping parts.
