Can anybody confirm tall deck blocks ( sbc or bbc ) will not work on a first gen camaro using original intake, heads, carb and a cowl hood. Thanks.

Vintage BBC tall decks will accept the good pass heads but you'll need spacers to use a factory aluminum intake. The additional deck height forces the heads further apart. I wouldn't expect any serious clearance problems with a cowl hood, but it may depend on your choice of air cleaners. The true cowl induction air cleaner may be tight.

There are bunches of Camaros running around with tall blocks...you gotta figure, we're talking about *at most* a difference from 9.8" to 10.2", so less than a 1/2 inch. If it's like Red Alert, there's a *bit* of wiggle room when using the factory cowl induction setup, but it's doable...most of the time, the problem lies in the exhaust routing becaue of the more up & wider positioning of the heads (like Cumby said)...but again, it's been done, & done, & done...pretty cheap/easy way to get a favorable rod/stroke ratio.
