Ryan Pm'd me and mentioned that some of my old Olds photos had disappeared from another thread, so I thought I'd repost them here!
I had 2 1970 W-31,s in the mid 70's, one automatic and one 4spd. Paid $2,200 each for them, and then had a guy with another W-31 contact me to see if I wanted his too. Alas, not enough money or places to put them! This was my first one, bought from a Datsun car lot in Richmond, BC. The 4 spd. The hood was stolen the night before I took delivery, but was recovered when Police raided a property on an unrelated theft claim, so I drove it for a few days with no hood. When recovered, it was in primer with a maple leaf painted on each scoop. I painted it to match the car myself. This was about the time my career as a striper began. I did stripes and graphics for car dealers in BC, and am still in the business today, mostly wrapping vehicles. ![]() ![]() |

I drove this for a year and then this one got traded in at Dick Irwin Chev, Olds, one of my customers. It had been owned by a guy who was a bouncer at a bar in North Vancouver, who had raced it at Mission and Boundary Bay raceways. The Turbo 350 had been gone through and it would chirp the tires on every upshift. It had headers as well as 3:91 gears, and was really quick on the street.
Here it is on the back lot of Carter Pontiac Buick in Burnaby. ![]() ![]() Parked in front of my parents place in east Vancouver. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Awesome!
Did it have a vinyl top or was once a two-tone car? |

Yes, they painted the car before I finalised the deal. It was light green with a painted white top and stripes. I redid the stripes in gold, and made them 1/2 size. Added some stars around the emblems too.

This was a friends car in January 1975 in McKenzie BC, way up north. I think the temp on this day was -35. This car had the 455, turbo 400, 2:56 gears and a white leather swivel seat interior. It was an incredible car on the highway, and ran a 15:00 ET at Boundary Bay raceway. I'd love to find this car again!

I spotted this car in Edmonton in 2001 and left a note on it, but never heard from the owner. 70 W-30 post.
