This was an exciting week and I know many of my Registered SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Owners have been waiting for me to spill the beans.
I was very honored to be a part of this very special acquisition, our very own Helmut (L78M22Rag) purchased a very unique one owner, original owner, original paint, 25,500 original mile, fully documented 1969 L35 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan in the color Black. This Chevelle has many great stories..... I was so bewildered that the original owner was going to truly sell his car that he purchased and ordered brand new. This car was truly street raced and was literally "Day 2ed" as soon as it was delivered home and has been in the same condition just as you see it in these pictures. The paint is ALL original except for the hood, the right front fender along with the front right headlight and grille extension. Funny story and reason the car had a slight front end accident...as the original owner said he was "Distracted". He had a young lady in the front bench seat of the car.....in those days ladies wore skirts, well as he turned the corner the young lady`s skirt blew up a bit too high and he was "Distracted" and ran his Chevelle into a 1969 Camaro, hence the damage to the front of the car. This car has been garage kept all of it`s life....never ever seen rain. The original owner was even smart enough to buy new carpeting and place it over the original "Rubber Mat" to preserve it. The other crazy story was that Helmut got cold feet and for a few minutes and declined from buying this amazing car.... Helmut even gave me the go ahead to pass the car to someone else....so I did. I literally had the car sold in minutes after Helmut declined to another great car guy whom we`ll just save for another story later. Needless to say, Helmut came to grips and purchased this wonderful 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Chevelle. Helmut welcome to my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Chevelle Registry & Family. This Chevelle is in good hands. I`ll let Helmut tell the rest of the Story. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dan

The original engine was pulled by the original owner and left on the premises of his former home, which he sold. Kurt, 43 and counting Dan

Side emblems are from a Corvette hood - if you have a flashlight and look real close, you can see the original 396 emblem holes. All emblems were new when the original owner put them on the car. The trim strip on the dash above the glove box still shows SS 396. The emblems, hood and fender replacement were the only changes made to the body. |

It also received a Hurst shifter, after market mechanical gauges for oil pressure, water temp, amps & fuel pressure, after-market radio/8-track (still have the original am radio), speakers on package shelf and tach on steering column. it has two toggle switches under the dash for the electric fuel pump and for the backup lights... remember when it was cool to run with your reverse lights on? Yellow fog lights behind the grill are wired as park/running lights, while the lights in the bumper still serve as signal lights.
Engine is 390 HP 427, has 2" headers, solid steel engine and tranny mounts, Edelbrock intake and Chevrolet street mechanical cam. Chevrolet deep groove hi-po pullys were added. Also has Lakewood scattersh1eild. Positraction was added to rear along with 4.30 ring & pinion. Has bolt on NMW ladder bars. Exhaust is straight 2 1/2 " pipe to mufflers. Exhaust dumps at rear end. Wheels are 8 1/2 x 15 American Torque Thrust. These particular wheels were made only for a short time as the center caps were held on from the backside compared to being screwed on from the front. The center caps were replaced by spinners, but still have the originals. Tires are L60x15 on rear and G60x15 on front. Car has air shocks but do not have any air in them. Front shocks are 90-10. All these day-two parts were added prior to 1974, including these tires. Brake pads front and back are stll the original ones that came on the car! |
