Hi guys,
Our 68 RS has a black ashtray, not woodgrain,but matches the radio surround.Is this ashtray correct? Should it be woodgrain? cheers Dave ![]()

The early 68 camaros all had black ashtrays. The woodgrain ashtray did not appear until mid year. If you have an early car the black ashtray is correct.

I found this on www.camaros.org pertaining to research they were doing regarding the implementation of the woodgrain on the 68 ashtrays: "Woodgrain ashtray. Starting around April of 1968, the ashtray front was changed from black to woodgrain when the surrounding molding was woodgrain (Z87, Z23, or D55)." My March built car has a black ashtray. I hope this helps.

The previous posts make sense. My 68 was 05D and it had a woodgrain ashtray.

My brother's 68 with a late 67/early 68 build date has woodgrain dash and black ashtray.
