Trying to find out if there is any difference between the bolts used on the cast iron intakes vs. the aluminum ones...and were there changes in bolts design (markings, style, etc) from the early engines 65-68 and the newer stuff 69-70..trying to sort out a pile of different bolts I have to help a friend. Thanks

They are different...believe they are plated differently and have different head markings.

Aluminum intake bolts have a shoulder built into the bolt so not to "dig into" the softer aluminum. Cast iron intake bolts do not have the shoulder..BKH

The cast iron bolts were shoulder-less and I believe black
posphate in color, The aluminum intake bolts were shouldered and silver cad or similar in color. Nuch

I have an original 68 325hp motor that came with my 67 chevelle I am restoring. It has the cast iron intake with shoulder less bolts with a washer. The letter A with three lines around the A. They were painted orange? If you need a closer look Tom feel free to stop buy when you are up my way!

I've seen the letter 'A' and letter 'M' with three lines around them as well.
Can anyone explain what the letters might designate?

A or M would be a manufacturers mark... the 3 dashes are the grade ddesignation for the bolt.
