I'm trying to figure out what the plug should look like, that fills the large, by the oil filter on a L-78 4 bolt main block. Is this the correct style, or should it be the type that would be tightened with a 1/2" socket extension?

Shouldn't the oil pressure line go into the center of that fitting??

No. The large hole gets a plug. There are 3 holes. The hole on the left gets a fitting for the oil pres gauge. The hole on the right is clutch linkage, and the center hole gets a plug that looks like the one in the pic above ????

Bill,
My 70 L78 has that style plug. Here is a picture before being rebuilt. As you can see it was not the target of my photo (tried to get VIN) but it is visable. ![]() I am sure others will offer thier knowledge as well. Nils |

Did the 69 4 bolts use the plug with the "W" cast into it like earlier years??
