Default L88 Cam replacement ???

Hello, looking to relpace a GM cam with either a NOS L88 or ZL-1 cam or a after market. Does anyone know which after market cam best meets the specs of the GM one. I have a crate L88 that was just fired and the cam went flat. Used the Rotella oil and all precautions but it still went flat on one lobe. Thanks, Larry.

Crane has their blue print cam series that are supposed to be a match for original Chev. cams.

I would strongly recommend using a set of lifters with an EDM bleed hole for added insurance next time around.

Also be sure to remove the inner valve springs and break the cam in on the outers only.

Most of the larger mail-order places carry them. I can get them for you as well.

Hello, I used a set of the lifters you mentioned. There about 170 bucks. I am looking at the Crane cam thats mentioned. Larry.

I prefer Comp. Cams thats what I have in my Nova (L78 spec cam) and it works great!! A lot of guys here on the site however swear by the Crane blueprint cams...

For American made EDM lifters, Howards Cams has them. Nice parts.

Ditto, have the Crane LT1 cam in my Deuce, no problems. A mutual friend took a 6k mile LT1 cam, an NOS LT1 cam, and the Crane blueprint LT1 cam and put them all on a Cam Doctor. No differences!
