Tommy . Don't know about 69 but have also seen a few 70 chevelle stamped on the top of the right frame rail right between the last two body mounts. Frame usually has to be out to see it unless it is a real clean car and you have a mirror to look.

I just got my Fremont, Ca. built 69 El Camino frame blasted, and the vin was clearly visable on the top of the left rear frame rail, just above the part number which Dan showed.
