I had my 68 Z to the track on Saturday and after a couple of easy runs maybe shifting at 5000RPM I heard a noise under the hood. After inspection I found I had ripped the centre out of my waterpump pulley. Any thoughts on why or has others done this. Is there anyway to make this area stronger. Thanks

There is a reinforcement that GM put on some water pump pulleys, Paragon Corvette has them for $2.50

I found a reinforcement at my GM dealer. Anyone know what side of the waterpump pulley they install on?
