Bought a New '69 396 Nova.....in 2007
After months of very friendly, enjoyable discussion I was able to purchase what is most likely the last unsold 1969 Chevrolet still in original dealers inventory on the MSO. Cordia Chevrolet of Clymer, NY retained and stored a Lemans Blue SS-396 Automatic Nova for the past 38 years. The car does have 1500 miles on it, Jim Cordia drove it as his demo for a short time and then mildly modified the car to go drag racing for a few years before the long hibernation. Some quick facts about the car: Open unassigned MSO from Chevrolet to Cordia, Dealers invoice still in envelope from Chevrolet Zone office postmarked November 22, 1968, Blank never filled out Protecto-Plate (but Jim is punching out my name/address/etc on a new roll of GM dymo-tape he still had), Beautiful, virtually never in sun original paint, kept every little part ever removed to go racing, original tires long gone darn-it. Jim Cordia, respected Western NY drag racer, long time associate of Stahl and Jenkins, still operates an incredibly small Chevrolet dealer that has been in his family since the thirties. Cordia & Stahl campaigned a '57 150 nationaly that did very well in the early sixties. I have known Jim and this Nova for many years and the time became right for us to get together. He is a total first-class gentleman. I will post some pictures shortly and some more info on this interesting purchase. I wonder if I will get a new owners CSI survey from Chevy on my new car ?
