Default Ice and snow don't mix

Saw this over on Team Chevelle thanks to Red'69. Happened on a street in Portland, OR. Good time to stay home.

15 car pileup

That's all we get around here. People think a little snow shut down the sun-belt. It doesn't. Ice does.

I wonder how many people plowed into the firetruck after it stopped across the middle of the street???? I think they should have sent a sand truck instead....

And I thought I had it bad when I drove away with my block heater still plugged in yesterday.

Took a trip to Springfield, MO, and back today...all I can say is *holy cow*...looks like a bomb went off in a freezer. Everything has a THICK coat of ice on it, and if the tree isn't bending over touching the ground it's snapped off...same thing with electric poles...limbs & debris everywhere. My aunt says they're telling her another week or so before she might have power, lots of schools, gas stations, and thousands and thousands of residents have zero power also. A cattle hauler passed through and said it's like this all the way up I44 to I70...

And they're supposed to get 3 to 6 more inches of sleet/snow tomorrow...

Rob, if you follow that ice stripe to the west, it looks the same. My place by Grove, Oklahoma, is just as bad. I was going to take my skid loader in and clear the debris, but I've still got one main power line laying across the only entrance road. I drove down and back last saturday, (during the height of the storm) and delivered some temporary heat for my house and the neighbor's house. WHAT A TRIP! 400 miles in every type of precip imaginable. After fifty miles, I got smart and turned off my wipers, I just kept the defroster on high, my wipers were useless. Hard rain with 16-24 degree temperatures = bad news. I had to stop twice, take a hammer, and bust the ice out of my rear wheel wells, just to keep my wheels turning. I hope I never have to do that again.
