Default CAN SOMEONE DECODE MY BIG BLOCK?

I have a 454(?) in my boat. It is in a 1974 "Spectra". I'd like to know if it is worth pulling out, selling, and replacing it with a 502. The numbers on the front of the block is t09284xa. The cast heads have "high performance" stamped on them. The intake # is 6m3733163. Any help would be appreciated!
John

I'll bet it's a #3999289 block w/#336781 Heads.
I'm pretty sure that's a 1974 Impala 454/235HP engine.
They originally used a CXA suffix,but have been known to stamp the last digit of the model year instead on some examples at that time.

T=Tonawanda plant
09=Month Sept.
28=day
4=Model year,1974
Check the back of the block for a casting date and part No.,also the same for the Heads to confirm.

Your intake looks like a Marine application.

SKAGGEN MARINE?

ok, you dont know him, Jerry owned the place, was told he held some records of some sort, had walls of trophies in his shop...anyway he was the jet boat pimp in Seattle and pretty much the only guy around that new jets well and how to make them run hard ... he sold a ton of them, and that sounds like a boat he built as a entry level package he used to sell...just curious. post up a pic of the money pit.

Bud.
