I don't think those issues are available from the publisher but I will try. Sam, I'm documenting the race history of a car that ran NHRA and IHRA all of 73 and 74. I think it ran a few races in 72 also but I'm most interested in 73-74. I'd like to find as many issues from that period as I can. At this point I don't have any issues of my own. Terry Earwood and Steve Bagwell are helping me with the history but I'd like to have the original copies of National Dragster myself. Between NHRA and IHRA the car was running somewhere all the time so every issue might provide some info.

Hi Phil, I have 8-1973 ND's and 11-1974 issues. Are we talking about the Hemi cuda or his 65 Belvedere? Bagwell was the man to beat in SS back then. Sam

The hemicuda rag is the one I'm researching. Terry Earwood drove it until sometime in 74 when Richard Griffin bought the car from Steve Bagwell. I think the Sept 14th issue of ND reports the US Nats SS Eliminator win and national record of 11.09. The car already had the mph record. I would be interested in buying any copies that refer to this car. Those guys were on top of SS at the time. Both have been inducted into the SE NHRA Hall Of Fame. Thanks Sam, any help is appreciated. Phil

Bill,
The Cuda ran in SS/EA in NHRA and IHRA. It held national records in both. I think in 73 it was never defeated for class. Too bad it and the Ray Allen car never faced off. Phil |
