Default Clones? Fakes?

Just wondering on how the general supercar owner or fan feels about clones.
I own a 69 Yenko Nova clone, and sometimes it's well recieved...sometimes not.
It's really more of a drag car that I drive to cruise nights and run a few heads up races in, and God knows I would never and could never pass it of as one of the real 37. I've always been a fan of the COPO and dealer cars, and I consider my car as more of a tribute to what the old cars were built for, and a cheap imitation all in one

So.....what is the real supercar owners opinion?
Should I have just put some SS stripes on it and called it good.....or is it all good as long as it's done in fun?

The only opinion that really matters in the end is yours! Tribute cars and clones are a totally acceptable part of our hobby.(IMO) As long as you are not intentionally misleading someone for a profit, then what's the problem. There are a million guys out there who wish they had a real COPO, Yenko or whatever. The reality is different since there are so few of these cars and values are incredible. A car built to look like "real thing" can be a fun and less expensive way to have that "supercar" thrill. Enjoy!!!

Clones are fine for the person who creates them, the trouble starts with subsequent owners who usually say "I don't if it's a real or not, but could be - if it is, then it's a bargain...." type of stuff. If you ever sell it, just take off the Yenko stuff, until then enjoy it

lets see some pics, personally i wouldnt add yenko stripes to a car i was doing just so i wouldnt have to answer the questions like why are you trying to pass off your car, no knock you at all, i would just tire of the stupid questions. i am considering using the stripe itself without the yenko script though, i think the stripe itself is very attractive to the body lines and prefer it to others ive seen.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
The questions about it being real do get a little old, but I guess it's just part of the deal. Let me see if I can find some pics.

I realized a while back that unless a winning powerball ticket were in my future I would never own a real supercar....even the cheap ones are valued at more than my house. This was my chance to build my car the way I wanted to.

BTW indyjps, do you know of any companies that make the stripe without the Yenko script? I'm looking for a stripe for my 72 Chevy pickup. I am building it to match the car and I need some kinda stripe for the side/

No problem with clones as long as the buyer knows what he is getting. The problem is with unscrupulous sellers and there are lots of them out there and they know how to use devious descriptions to sell a car for the big dollar. We see them all the time.
