Default 1964 SS Impala 409 engine code/block pad question.

Over the weekend,I looked at a 1964 Impala SS 409 that was for sale. The guy tells me it's an original 409 car with it's original motor. I have not knowledge on these cars at all but I'm seriously considering buying the car.

Couple questions for you guys who know more than I,what should be stamped on the pad for numbers? VIN? Build date?
You tell me....Also anything special to the chassis of the car specific to 409's? As always, Thanks, Jim

Jim,
Your best bet would be to post a pic of the block pad stampings, the build date of the body (upper left corner of the cowl tag), and the VIN of the car. Let's start with that before we look for a lot of other things. Is the car "restored", and if so, when?
