Default 1968 Impala ss 427 question ? -

Talking to a fellow tradsman in the neighboring community this evening, he told me that he had a 1968 Impala 427, 400 Auto and 4:56 rear all original for $15K. Naturally, I'm going to look this coming weekend. --- That's all the info I have now, however, was a 4:56 rear offered in Impala SS models ????

The axle code for 4.56:1 in 1968 would be DO. I don't know if there was a specific RPO code for the option. Here's a link to a great web site for 67-69 SS427 cars. You can get all kinds of info on those big cars from the site.

I don't see why not. My Biscayne is a properly coded *DP* 4.88 gear car.
