They're real. I have a set for my JL8 car. He's missing the plastic dash piece to cover the heater control opening but those 2 pieces are the firewall covers.

Real. A month or so ago there was an auction out of Hawaii for all three pieces for a 69 Camaro/Nova. Final price was about $750.00 . After 68, these pieces were only for export cars or Hawaii, Arizona, Mexico etc.

It is real, BUT... no continental US sold camaro could have a factory installed heater delete. Government mandates reqiared heaters to be installed in cars sold within the lower 48 states. It would have been possible to order the heater delete components over the counter and remove the heater yourself, but anyone who tells you they have a heater delete car that wasnt sold new outside of the continental US is lying to you.

Joe,
-----Not only could you buy a 67 Corvette without a heater (therefore no defroster) but on all 20 of the L88s you couldnt get a heater if you wanted one. I have seen a number of 67 Corvettes without heater and defroster assemblys from the factory. The Corvette black book says they made 35 67 Corvettes with the heater delete option block checked (54 in 66, 39 in 65, 60 in 64, 124 in 63). Now, Im not saying a 1967 Camaro could be ordered sans heater within US borders as I have personally never seen one, but it stands to reason that it could. I believe the government mandate for defrosters came along in 68, and the Corvette black book shows no C48 listed (heater delete option code on earlier cars) for 68. The Camaro black book shows 2201 67 Camaros delivered with the same C48 code. Although some of those did leave the country, Im sure alot of them didnt. If you had to have a defroster you would necessarily have to have a heater.........Bill S |

I want to say your both correct. 67 and some 68 received the heater delete prior to the mandate in Jan 68 and again in Dec 68. I think Joe is referring to the plate for sale on Ebay since it is being sold as a 69 Heater Delete set, which you could get here in Hawaii and I see them on a lot of cars with orginal owners. I also have seen a few on rusted out shells which are no longer with those cars ![]() I have also seen some other Chevy/Fords with the Delete plates in both 67/68 and earlier as well.

Yes Jeff, i was referencing 69 Camaros as the thread is titled... not 67's or 68's, or Corvettes....although in 1969 you couldn't get a heater delete in those within the continental USA either.
![]() ...and as for you guys in Hawaii with weather so warm they don't even put heaters in cars....you make me sick! ![]() ![]() |

William, Do you know what dealer it came from? Also do you happen to have a copy of the paperwork to show the C48?
If the owner is ever looking for any emblems let me know I just might be able to help him out ![]()
