I remember this car when it was for sale in the 80's, for $45,000. I considered buying it. but would have had to sell my 1968 camaro RS/SS L34 Hi Perf. 396 convertible with a/c. I knew this ZL1 camaro was super rare with only 2 RS ZL1'S made, and at $45,000 I knew this was a super deal, but it didn't have a convertible top,or A/C, and these are two things I had to have. The Hi Perf 396 for me,and the convertible and A/C for my wife. I wish Chevrolet made a ZL! convertible!

I saw this car at the Peterson museum in '97 or '98. It was set back from the other muscle cars, with no special display. Real sweet ride, sold new in Ark.

Why does it look like, it has crossflag emblems above the front fender side marker light? Roger

I believe it was added along with 427 on the hood.

Story I heard was that the Dude in Arkansas wanted to show off, so in addition to having the most expensive Chevy built that year, he customized it too. As it's said, some folks have more money than sense. (See the thread on the customized Cowboy Caddilac).

I think I was told the car was ordered for a customer but when it arrived it was too boring looking. The dealer did all that stuff to it to attract a customer.

I Like it better with the steel wheels.
