The LA cars are considered Pace Cars if they are coded 720 and 20 20. These are all RS/SS cars with the Pace Car options down to deluxe seat belts. They don't carry the Z11 code. He is correct, I've always considered these true pace cars.

Probably 1/5 to 1/4 of the 3675 total Z11 made (yes they are counted in the total number produced).

Are you absolutely sure about this? Where have you found this? Do you have an actual statement from Chevrolet noting this? I just would like to know how you feel so certain that ours are included in that #....

Because GM reports 3675 RPO Z11's were purchased. LA broadcast sheets, and window stickers carry the RPO Z11 option code they just don't have the Z11 cowl tag. The RPO code in this case just happens to be carried as a trim code on the cowl tag on Norwood car but it's the number of cars built equipped with the RPO code that GM reported, not those equipped with a tag with Z11 on it.
The 1/5 to 1/4 of the 3675 number just comes about because LA built roughly 1/5 of the 69 Camaros in 69. Really just a guess no though. I know of 267 Z11's and and 30 of them were made in LA which is about 12 percent of the total. |
