I have seen 2 different style of upper control shafts on '70 Chevelle's,one has the ends held on bt a bolt, the other by a nut.Is this correct and if so was there a certain date that each was used?

Rob,
I had a '70 Chevelle Diamond Certified with the nut cross shaft and was told it was incorrect. This after the original owner confirmed there had been nothing ever done to the front end of the car. I was told by the judge that it was a common practice to replace the bolt in cross shaft with the nut style on race cars due to front end flexing and this compensated for it??? This car had 18,000 original miles and did not see that much drag service. I did what the judge recommended and will admit that I see 10 to 1 of the bolt in style. |

Rick, My blue ls-6 has the nut style control arm shaft.A local guy who I htink you know{ restored a '69 hugger orange 350hp Chevelle} just bought a really original '70 L34 convertible car which also has the nut style cross shaft. His also still has the original ball joints so I dont think a lot of work was done to it. His car as well as my blue ls-6 are both January cars.My green ls-6 is a June car and has the bolt stlye shaft.
