Default Block assembly date

Is it possible for an engine to have an assembly date, the same as the casting date.

Thanks,

Jason

Someone explain how that is possible...didn't the blocks have to season a bit before they were machined ? Damn thing would still be hot.....

Not to mention, are engines cast and assembled in the same place? Probably a stupid question, but seems as though the foundry for casting would be in a different place.

With three shifts running at that time you would have 48hrs to do the work. I don't know it blew me away too when I seen it.

Well, I have to say.. my gut answer would have been DOUBTFUL if at all possible.. but obviously at least two members here have one like this, so I guess once again... anything is possible. My reply would now be VERY RARE but possible.

Could I see photos of this by any chance?

Mike

I remember a Local 454 Monte Carlo & Chevelle over here that have the same dates,Casting & Tonawanda.
Like Mike stated,it's very rare, but I believe it to be possible.

What happened to elcaminos reply?

I have 40+ BBlocks in my garage and that part is not heated!! Will take pictures when it warms up. It will take some time to find it.

I just can't believe a block would be cast and a complete engine built from it on the same day. Did they cast the date maybe a day ahead of time so when it came out of the mold it would have that day on it? Or did the guys doing the stamping forget to change the date in the stamp?
