Cool Mustang Drag Car

This Mustang was at a local car show. It was the original Rye Ford Drag Car... (or so the owner claimed it to be) You guys know anything about it? Regardless it was a really cool day-2 car!

This might be a former dealer-sponsored drag car. Several Ford dealers campaigned '68 CJ 'Stangs and Al Joniec won SS/E at the '68 Winternationals in his CJ. Here's a pic of the Tasca Ford CJ. Note NHRA chief starter Buster Couch (without hat) standing beyond the car.

Ah, and just look at the skinny Cragars. The fronts almost look like 6-inchers on the restored car.

I was born in Port Chester,went to The Bronx & grew up in Westchester.

I worked for White Plains Ford & do remember a couple of Ford dealer sponsored race cars.

The picture was taken at the anual Mamaroneck Car Show in Harbor Island right by the Sound... Maybe I should post some more pictures... They had some cool cars this year!

WOW, they still do that.
I'm pretty sure that I did that show in 1982.
I had a Black S/G Vega that I put on the street.
I distinctly remember that one because I popped the fuse
for the electric fan & remember seeing the temp guage pegged!

Luckily it happened right when I got there, so I parked, fixed it & hung out for 4 hours. </font>
