Can someone explain why a 6 cyl 69 camaro with a yenko ZL-1 engine dropped in by the car owner in 1982 is worth 70k to people? Am i missing something?

For the same reason a undocumented body shell with a BE axle is accepted as a COPO.
For the same reason a made-over Z/28 with add-on JL8 is involved in a bidding frenzy. For the same reason a Z/28 on ebay advertised as original with an obviously restamped engine is now over $50,000. The people now bidding on HP 1969 Camaros are the most gullible group of people on the planet. Knowledgeable enthusiasts aren't bidding on these cars. Watch for the whining when the '69 frenzy wanes and these people learn they got screwed.

Nice looking broach marks and trans designation on that Z. Buyers with little knowledge are getting caught up in the buying frenzy.

Roger, I think it's over 100k now. Did Yenko only make 5 ZL-1 motors or did I misunderstand the ad? Maybe he ment 5 complete engines. I thought there were quite a few Yenko crested ZL-1 blocks out there per old threads on this site.

Here is the link to the Ebay auction. This is the same seller that had the Yenko Chevelle clone listed several months ago.

Stop the madness.
![]() This is getting way out of hand. He is selling a 6 cylinder car with a V8 trim tag with an aluminum BB (Ok they are not cheap) for over $100k and we can't even sell a 69 SS BB car with a 427 for $27k.??? ![]() ![]() We are not trying to fool anybody and are not claiming it to be something it's not. What are we doing wrong?? I am confused and don't get it. ![]() Maybe because his car has one of those new aluminum "engiene" with "manuel" transmissions which makes this car above "avarage". Sorry couldn't help myself after reading his auction. My neck is getting sore from shaking my head so much. ![]() Rick |

The selling dealer also has some other interesting cars. Claims to have a 70 ram air 4 gto convert with docs., price seems cheap. x44d80, not sure how many blocks yenko cast, but there were different marking on the front of block. Yenko done in letters and then also done with the yenko crest, and on other variation. Roger

Well said William!
I was talking cars with the our church treasurer yesterday, and he has an interesting term for this: The Bigger Fool! He's a car dealer and frequents the Manheim auction, and watches where one 'fool' buys the car in order to sell to 'The Bigger Fool'!! It's sad, but true ![]()
