Default Old Autometer gauges

I have 60's magazines that advertise Autometer gauges but never see or hear anything about them now. I know the Sun, Dixco and Stewart Warner gauges are the most common but I would like to know A little about vintage Autometer stuff and maybe see photos if anyone cares to post any. Tommy it is funny that you mentioned that. I always say that you should ask guys in your area and not rely on magazines if you want to know what were the hot parts of the period. In the 60's my father told me that all the guys in his area (west side of Chi-Town) were running Sun & Stewart Warner back in the day. My father had both. He had a Sun Tach and SW 2 5/8 gauges under the dash in his 55 Chevy in 1967-1969.

The funny thing was a friend of mine who has had the same 1970 Nova SS L78 since 1971 said that all the guys that he ran with where he lived in the south suburbs of Chi Town in the very early 70's used the Auto Meter gauges and said that nobody that he knew post 70 was running with the Sun or SW's. I personally find this hard to believe but he was there and I was not so what he says go's I guess.

About all I have seen that are old units around here(North AL) are the Sun and S&W gauges but saw A Dixco here in town and one in Pigeon Forge early this spring. From the Magazine ad I have around here (somewhere) the Autometer gauges used A different logo in 68 but it didn't show the actual gauge. I never hear Autometer mention anything about the history of thier company, maybe its because they don't have to worry about any other competition (except maybe VDO)

I missed this one while I was working. It's the only "old" one I have seen so far. Here is the link to the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...43976&rd=1
