Default Sill Plate Rivets

Hello,

Does any one know when in the 70's GM stopped using rivets to hold the Body by Fisher logo on the door sill plate?

If you need sill plate rivets you may want to look at Installing Sill Plate Rivets and let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Greg

Are the rivets available from those folks?

I've been looking for something that would look right. I have some old sill plates I was planning to harvest the rivets from, but would prefer new rivets, if they are available.

Unreal;

'Those folks' would be me. I was researching what it would take to do this. I was surprised how they came out. I have several sets left. How much would you pay for a set of 4? I want to cover my research costs but do not want to gouge anybody here.

Greg

BTW I still need to know when they stopped using rivets.

Greg,
Unless you didn't research very long, I doubt you can ever recover your research costs. For most of us, research is part of the hobby, and we freely share what we learn.

I just looked at the 6-7 original sill plates I have, and the rivets are different on them all. Some are flat, some are domed, and some have a flat outer ring with a slightly domed center. Guess it all depends on how the rivet tool hit the rivet.

Back to your question, I would think $ 3-4/set, including mailing cost, would be fair.

Unreal;

I have noticed the same thing. The originals were probably installed with a squeezer machine that left that ring. I have seen several that did not have the ring so setting by hand will work. Did you see many that were painted?

You will need a semi tubular rivet set tool to set the rivet correctly. for the best price I have seen on the rivet tool click here.

I really do not have a ton invested. I did pay way too much for the rivet set before I found them online. $4 a set or $1 a rivet including shipping is what I planned to charge. Send me a PM with how many you want. Anyone else need any?
