I found a quote from Jim Luikens former Hi-Po Parts Manager for Berger Chevrolet which states, "In 1966 a fellow out of Chicago named Jim O'Connor came along and sold Dale Berger on the idea of high performance. He planted the seed and Dale was smart enough to see that there was some potential there."

CW,
There is a good(IMO)article about Berger Chevrolet and Jim Luikens in a 1987 MCR (Post Yenko article). That is where I pulled the quote from.

This article has some very intersting info including how Emert Chevy may have obtained their COPO cars ahead of Berger as well as a few other bits of info pertaining to the Berger Super Cars.

Has anyone read the article recently?

Jim O'Connor also had the first drag race car that Berger sponsored a'66 or '67 Vette that was called "The Carouser"
Look for an article coming up in a Muscle Car Review in the near future on Berger and it's history.

The article I was referencing is in the September 1987 'Muscle Car Review'. There is a Red '73 Super Duty on the Cover.

I have seen the Berger name on a few cars in the old magazines. There was a 67 Camaro with "Performance Parts By Berger Chevrolet" on the front fender and "Robertsons Auto Service" on the door.
