Can anyone help me with some info on a 1964 Dodge polara 500
...I ran across a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 that the guy says came with a cross ram Two- four barrel carb and intake. ( the car presently has a after market single four barrel intake and carb. ). It Is a two-door with hurst four speed ( shifter is curved like an "s") the motor is a 413 and is suppose to be the original motor. He says that the guy he bought it from has fibreglass front fenders, hood and bumpers ...that he says came on the car when new???? Did they do that??? Here are the numbers off the tag on the driver's fender. 1234567890 abcdefghjklmnpqrstvwxyz 1 5 3 8 2 so number bdy trm pnt 0302 0385 432 H40 JJ ( or 0702 )where the 0302 is . ) ....can you tell anything from this? I believe the car was originally white. ...Thanks |

Not sure if you are going to run into a Mopar Guru on a Chevy site?, I had a 65 a few years ago and found some good contacts in the back of Hemmings, I tossed all the Mopar stuff after that car and swore Never, ever to do that again..

Run away from this guy. Unless the car is real cheap of course. '64s could have come with 426 max wedge motors [not 413] until mid year, then the hemi was introduced & the max wedge was discontinued. Mopars used aluminum for their lightweight body pieces in '64, so, fibreglass would be aftermarket.

...That's what I figured ( the fibre glass being after market pieces )...I was just trying to figure if this car came with just a single four barrel 413 motor ..or did it come with the crossram carbs on a 413 motor.

I worked at the Chrysler Twinsburg, OH stamping plant from 65 till 74 and never heard of or saw a glass panel. A friend at the Hamtramck, MI assembly plant said a few aluminum panels were sent to Highland Park, apparently for some skunk work projects (ie..race team cars). If you think the car is for real, contact Galen Govier at to decode the fender tag. He is the recognized Mopar Guru.

SO-0307= Shipping order assigned prior to production. Month/day coded March 7th.
NUMBER 0385= Plant production seq number BDY 432= model and body style number 432 is a Dodge Polara 2 dr hardtop but for a 6 cylinder for it to be a V8 it would have to be 632 TRM H40 should be H4Q= Turquoise Interior made of Vinyl. this code is used for both the standard Polara and the polara 500. PNT JJ= Light Turquoise exterior paint. Whats the VIN on the carIt should start with 6 to make the car a V* if the tag was not swapped out but since the trim tag shows a 6 cylinder I doubt it most likely will start with a 4
