Default Dent/Ding Repair

I just purchased an original paint car that has a number of small dents/dings from years of storage and minor mishaps at the drags. The paint is excellent and I really want to save it. Has anyone used those dent repair services that claim to repair door dings and small dents from the inside without damaging the paint? If so, do they really work? I know one local fellow that swears these guys perform magic, but would like to hear other opinions please. Thanks in advance,

Mark,
I had a friend use this method on a very low mileage survivor car and the results were very impressive. There was no damage to the paint persay other than the fact that the original Lacquer paint will check in any stress areas. The car was completely wet sanded and buffed after that and looks extremely well. I think you would be very impressed.

I agree. In 1994 my friend and I took his Brian Caudell restored LS-6 Chevelle to be Diamond certified at the Chevelle Nationals.
His car got two door dings a week before the show. His wife did it!
He called Paintless DentBusters here in Illinois, and the came out to his Home and fixed it Flawlessly. It was so well done,Diamond judges didn't even notice it.SSSHHHHHHH

It all depends on the person doing the work. It helps if you can watch the guy work before letting him touch your car. The guy that did it for me was a true artist... another guy working on another car there at the same time, wasn't quite as good. I got lucky.

Thanks for the responses guys, I was hoping to hear more positive experiences. Another board member emailed me a contact for a local guy that is supposed to be quite good, but I will definitely check his work before he touches the car.

Rick: Yes, I am a bit worried about the original lacquer cracking from the repair, but don't really see another alternative other than leaving the dents and they bug me too much The paint has absolutely no checking, so if the dent repair works well, the car should look awesome!

Thanks again all,

Zedder I would definately consider the paintless dent removal. I use it at the dealership about every day and it still wow's me everytime. You were already given good advice as to check the guys work first before having him work on your car.

My experience with the paintless dent removal was very good!!! Mr 70, would you be talking about Sam's ls-6 car that had gotten the dings? I have my new ls-6 at my house now, when are you coming down to look at it? Rob

I had this done on a 2001 Intimidator ss camaro on the top of the rear quarter. There were two dings up high on black paint. The shop looked like the "fast and the furious" with all employees looking like they were 16 years old. I was uneasy to say the least. When they were done in about 15 minutes, I could not tell which side they worked on!
